Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

DocScanner does not collect any personally identifiable information by default. The only data handled by the app is:

• Documents and images you scan or import — stored locally on your device only.
• App preferences (e.g. view settings, folder names) — stored locally using Android's DataStore.
• Google account email — only if you choose to sign in with Google Drive, used solely to identify your Drive connection within the app.

2. Camera and storage permissions

DocScanner requests the following permissions:

• Camera — to scan physical documents. Camera data is processed on-device and never transmitted.
• Storage / Media — to read files you choose to import and to save scanned PDFs to your device.

These permissions are used solely to provide scanning and file management features. You can revoke them at any time in your device settings.

3. Google Drive integration

If you choose to connect Google Drive, the app uses Google's official OAuth 2.0 sign-in. This gives the app permission to:

• Upload documents you explicitly choose to back up.
• List and download files previously uploaded by DocScanner.

The app only accesses files it has created (using the drive.file scope). It cannot read your entire Google Drive. You can revoke access at any time via your Google Account permissions page.

4. How we use your information

We do not use your information for any purpose beyond operating the app features you explicitly use. Specifically:

• We do not sell your data.
• We do not share your data with third parties.
• We do not use your data for advertising.
• We do not run analytics or tracking of any kind.

5. Data storage and security

All scanned documents and app data are stored locally on your device in the app's private storage directory. They are not accessible to other apps without your permission.

If you enable cloud backup, your files are stored in your own Google Drive account, subject to Google's privacy policy and security practices.

6. Data retention

Your documents remain on your device until you delete them. Uninstalling DocScanner removes all locally stored app data. Cloud-backed files in your Google Drive are not automatically deleted on uninstall — you can manage them directly in Google Drive.

7. Children's privacy

DocScanner is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us so we can address it.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
